Marilyn Anne Marks
Marilyn grew up in England, and obtained a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration from Camberwell University of the Arts in London. A career in publishing followed, including as a designer with the BBC and later a segue into Textile design and Fashion in New York City.
After 30 years working in Manhattan, and studying Landscape Design at the NY Botanical gardens on the side, Marilyn longed for open space, and a large garden to create. She had accumulated large and eclectic mix of art and antiques over the years, and was looking for a new business and home in the countryside that could accommodate them. She found the Shorecrest Bed and Breakfast, which could provide both, and for the next 2 decades gradually renovated and restored both the house and garden.
Neighbors approached her asking if she could help them rent out their houses during the summer, resulting in the portfolio of properties that she manages still.
Several of them required renovating and decorating, which Marilyn oversaw. She continues to be deeply involved in the maintenance and marketing of many of the original properties, and currently is renovating two properties for their owners, to get them ready for the rental market.

The contact with the company was prompt and our questions were answered without difficulty. We found the rental house to be very comfortable, spotlessly clean and with all the amenities we could need. We look forward to renting again in the future.Posted on Abigail FieldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was part of a three person dinner and a five person dinner at Mattituck Estates, a beautiful, hospitable home. The indoor and outdoor layout are ideal for relaxed socializing for groups that size or larger— the property is a mini-resort. Indeed, three people would normally be too few in a space like this, but because of the design of the space and the furniture groupings, we shared spaces that fit us well. Nonetheless, the house is designed so the bedrooms could be full and dinner guests added and the space would feel lively and warm, not crowded. When a party of three, we ate in the backyard, looking over the pool. The birds in the backyard put on an airshow that was fun to watch, and the surrounding walls of green trees gave unexpected privacy and quiet given the property’s incredibly convenient location between Main Rd and Rte 48 at the Mattituck-Cutchogue border. As a party of five we dined indoors very comfortably at the formal dining table. The open flow of the indoor space made it very flexible and supported a lovely experience. The kitchen is close to the table for easy dining or hosting, while being just separate enough that a caterer for a more formal meal could serve without intruding on the guests. The dining space flows into the living room seamlessly too, so before dinner drinks can be sipped there in comfort, or people can lounge, letting their newly full bellies rest. We did. People wishing to escape the city—a large family perhaps--could not ask for an easier, more thorough respite than this property.Posted on Thomas FeldmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nothing short of excellent. Extremely clean and lovely accommodations, in an absolutely stunning place to visit. I always look forward to my stays on the north fork at these beautiful rental properties.Posted on Jen FTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had the most amazing weeklong stay at the beach house managed by Shorecrest Properties. The place was tidy with a nice coastal theme. It was fully furnished and stocked with everything you would need. Plenty of room and not to mention a million dollar view. The house is literally right in front of the beach, you're just a few steps away from dipping your toes in the sand. It's quiet and peaceful, and there's nothing more relaxing than hearing the sound of the waves crashing. We would definitely stay there again and recommend rentals managed by Shorecrest to friends and family!Posted on Jonathan FeldmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been coming to these houses for years and each time is more memorable than the last!
